Crucial’s Discount Portends Prohibitive Price Progression

Crucial wants us to forget that the 2TB USB 3.2 Gen2x2 drive we reviewed in September came with a $169.99 launch price a mere two months earlier. How else could we explain the big, bold proclamation of a 27% discount on a price that’s only 10% cheaper than the full price at launch?

And now for the surprise: We’re not going to tell you to dodge this deal. A 10% discount on a device that we would have already recommended had it been only a little cheaper plants that device firmly within recommended territory. But be forewarned: That new, ridiculously high $210 list price probably will come to visit us soon, and we don’t know how long it will be before the next sale makes these affordable again.
